Margot Barolo: No Innocent Objects
Margot Barolo har i sitt tidigare arbete ifrågasatt rådande strukturer och synsätt inom det mångbottnade området produktion. Hon vill fortsätta att gräva och synliggöra våra föreställningar om hur vi värderar objekt utifrån hur och var och av vem vi tror att de är gjorda. Margot menar att det i förlängningen också speglar hur olika vi värderar människor och att det inte finns några oskyldiga objekt. Alla har de en bakgrund, alla har de vidrörts av människor, maskiner och är resultat av olika system. Deras kvalité, pris och utseende bär om en tyst vittnesbörd om detta. Margot Barolo vill söka sig till den ”mörka” sidan av MADE IN och vad som mer ligger bakom dessa betydelsefulla och ofta avgörande ord, både praktiskt och i våra föreställningar och värderingar.
Margots intention är inte att komma med svaret om vad som är bättre än något annat. Hennes mission är och har varit att ställa alla de obekväma frågorna och att försöka hitta förklaringar på något som är långt mer komplext än vad de flesta av oss tror. Margot menar att när ämnet berörs i media eller i andra sammanhang om produkters tvivelaktiga ursprung, så ligger fokus enbart på mikronivå och debatten är ofta enfaldig. Hon vill angripa dessa ämnen på de sätt som kan bidra till att de lyfts fram i ljuset och diskuteras av fler, och från alla de aspekter de förtjänar: historiskt, politiskt, konstnärligt och ekonomiskt.
Olof Einarsson: Artifacts, Nature and the Gray Zone in between - A study of synthetic bio-product design
Olof Einarsson vill i sitt KU-projekt jobba med formgivningsprocesser där människa (designer) möter 'naturen'. Han vill fördjupa teorier kring vad som händer med formgivningen när man odlar fram produkter. Designerns kreativa arbete sker tillsammans med naturen då växtprocessen påverkar slutresultatet.
Begreppet artefakt utmanas när gränserna suddas ut för hur mycket människan varit med och skapat den slutgiltiga produkten. Olof har inte kunnat hitta ett bra ord för "objekt skapade av naturen" som skulle kunna motsvara det vi har för "artefakt". Han vill i projektet utforska dessa två motstående begrepp och gråzonen mellan dem.
I projektet kommer en produkt att odlas fram med en svamp som material. Både designern (Olof Einarsson) och svampens egen växtkraft kommer att påverka hur resultatet ser ut. Teorin kommer att kretsa kring hur vi kan uppfatta en sådan produkt.
Behzad Khosravi Noori: Blood and Honey - the logic of art from and about hyper politicized realms
The Discourse of Multiculturalism in the Logic of Art from and about Hyper-Politicized Societies.
Case study: The representation of Middle East and Middle Eastern in Swedish television since 1976 beginning of Multiculturalism in Sweden.
The role of media in general has a repercussion effect on the public opinion. It has a very strong role in stereotyping and disseminating biased information in modern communication. In this context, the relation between the media and its audiences, between the actor and spectator creates a complex that is both impalpable and disturbing. This relation consists of wide amplitude of different aspects; from the message broadcasted through media to the institutions involved, from how the message is illustrated to how people observe and make meaning out of such messages, from the reality to the politically made fiction out of this reality.
This biased representation is widespread in the realm of media regardless of the political geographies. In other words it is not only practiced in the so-called first world or Western media but also in the so-called third world media. Here it is very interesting and at the same time necessary to study how and in which political situation these pictures are produced and broadcasted and at the same time, those involved in making and creating these pictures or in the other word and in general "Artists" perform their role politically within the political realm of media.
The aim of this project is to understand the way of presenting culture from and about hyper politicized realms and the relation between the political perspectives beyond the culture under the name of Multiculturalism. Hyper politicized societies in this project are societies where any action or motion immediately associated with one or the other side of the previous conflict. This research aims at mapping out the specific image and representation of Middle East and Middle Eastern in the Swedish media since 1976, (the beginning of Multiculturalism in Sweden, in relation to the idea of Swedish Multiculturalism) with the focus on Iran and Afghanistan. This is to be done within the context of Sweden's past and present relations with these countries and these regions, in the realm of media; with considering the fact that it has always been a distant relation as Sweden lacks any colonial experiences in the Middle East.
This project is going to Study about cultural diversity and cultural policy through "political art projects" from and about these regions. The main point is to understand the vision of culture of the "others" as minorities from the idea of cultural diversity to the politics of culture, from culture as a pure and solid character in hyper politicized societies (under the name of Multiculturalism) to how it is represented through media. This research tries to understand how the idea of culture, which is presented as a "humanitarian" and "righteous", can have a different and many times opposite effect on public opinion.
Rolf Hughes: From form to transformation - Experience and Exposition i Artistic Research
Artistic research demands that the characteristics and requirements of both research and artistic practice have to be negotiated within the framework of research. A key question within this negotiation concerns the challenges that arise in the attempt to articulate and communicate research with a strong experiential component derived from methods that may be playful, experimental, embodied, improvisatory, unpredictable or non-repeatable. What are the particular expositional challenges for a form of research that deploys multiple strategies, materials or physical encounters for communicating its insights?
This project explores the challenges of documenting artistic research, and how far existing forms of research publication and dissemination delimit the ambitions of artistic research and the subsequent application of its results. It supplements the author’s work on ‘giving an account’ of practice-based research via hybrid literary forms, arguing that artistic research can develop distinctive or even innovative textual and extra-textual forms of research communication, and thereby address audiences beyond established constituencies.
Karin Ahlin: På besök i Konstfacks inre rum - en holistisk studie i studentens utmaningar
Projektet är en dokumentärfilm om Konstfack. Den historia som Karin Ahlin vill berätta handlar om några studenter som gått på Konstfack i två till fem år. De går sin sista termin och har just börjat arbeta med sina examensprojekt: utbildningens krona. Karin vill följa dem från idé till utställning, och tiden efter. Hon vill ge publiken en inblick i konstprocessen med allt vad det innebär; från tidspressen som man som konstnär ständigt lever under till idéskapandet och den kreativa processens toppar och dalar. När man har sett filmen har man fått ta del av ett koncentrat av skapandets villkor och kärna.
Med utgångspunkt i vårutställningen som kulmen i den konstnärliga utvecklingen hos studenterna på Konstfack, vill Karin Ahlin dokumentära och visualisera den process man som student genomgår, med syfte att verbalisera den inre dialogen.
