Craft and digital tools

The vinyl cutter used in slojd education

Mikaela Karimi’s research is focused on educational craft teachers work with digital tools in the Swedish craft subject. Her research focuses on educational craft, digitalization and technology from a sociomaterial perspective. How is teaching in craft education shaped when digital tools, materials, and embodied practices interact? In what ways is agency distributed in craft education when digital tools participate in design and production processes? And how are didactic decisions and responsibilities reconfigured in craft teaching practices when digital tools are understood as active participants in the learning process?
