English language requirements

A good command of spoken and written English is required when studying a master's programme at Konstfack.

At the Master's programmes all teaching, tutoring and examinations are in English. Swedish applicants are required to have upper-secondary school grades in English 6 or equivalent. International applicants who obtained degrees from educational institutions where the main language of instruction is not English must submit their TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge ESOL test results.

IELTS

Academic modules
For course English 6: an overall mark of 6.5 and no section below 5.5

Upload a copy of your test result to universityadmissions.se. You can also send a copy of your IELTS test results to: University Admissions in Sweden, R312, SE-106 53 Stockholm, Sweden.

Your test results will be verified online.


TOEFL

Internet based
For English 6: Score of 20 (scale 0–30) in written test and a total score of 90

Paper based
For English 6: Score of 4.5 (scale 1-6) in written test, total score of 575

Please follow these steps to verify your TOEFL results:

  • Notify Educational Testing Service that you wish to make your scores available to University Admissions in Sweden. Our institution code is "Sweden 3477". You can choose any school type and department for University Admissions.
  • Submit a copy of your test taker score to University Admissions, either by uploading a scan of the original document or through regular mail.

University Admissions will then be able to verify your score online.

Note! TOEFL Examine Score Records or TOEFL ITP are not accepted!


Cambridge English Language Assessment

Cambridge English: Advanced (Certificate in Advanced English) or Proficiency (Certificate of Proficiency in English).

Upload a scanned copy of your original test results to universityadmissions.se or send a copy by regular post to University Admissions in Sweden.


Pearson PTE Academic

For English 6: Score of 62 (writing 61).

Upload a copy of your original Test Taker Score Report to universityadmissions.se or send a certified copy to University Admissions in Sweden.

Your test scores must be verified. Contact Pearson and arrange for them to assign your test result to “University Admissions in Sweden”. This will enable University Admissions to verify your test score online. Please note that this process can take time, so arrange this as soon as possible if you already have test results to report. University Admissions will not accept results that can’t be verified.

Exemptions

English language proficiency tests are not required for all applicants. Following applicants are exempt:

  • Applicants with a formal university transcript or degree certificate for their bachelor's degree where it is clearly stated that the language of instruction for the programme was English.
  • Applicants with a Bachelor's degree from a university where English is the only language of instruction, in accordance with the recommendations in the edition of the International Handbook of Universities that was current the year the degree was awarded.
  • Applicants with a Bachelor's degree where English is the main subject.
  • Applicants with 60 credits from an EU/EEA country or Switzerland where the language of instruction of the course was English. The language of instruction must be clearly stated on official documents.
  • Applicants with 60 credits from USA, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, or English speaking parts of Canada. The language of instruction needs to be English.
  • Students with a 3-year bachelor's degree (equivalent to a Swedish kandidatexamen) from the following countries meet the English requirement: Botswana, Eritrea, Ethiopia, the Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
