About the programme
As a student at CRAFT! Metal and Jewellery, you actively contribute to this dialogue as well as developing strategies and tools for a professional practice in jewellery and metal at both national and international levels, based on your individual project and its potential. Our well-equipped and spacious workshops create excellent conditions for encounters between students and teachers, where your individual practice becomes a foundation for exchange and learning together with others.
A large part of our everyday lives is shaped by encounters with materials, objects and the situations that surround them. Through these encounters, understandings of both the individual and the society in which that individual operates are formed. From a contemporary perspective on jewellery, the body becomes an arena for storytelling. The possibility of communicating a message through one’s own body, of becoming one’s own gallery, stands in strong contrast to the generalized narratives about the body, materials and identity that often characterize our time. We explore how these perspectives interact with the discipline’s specific roots in metal and jewellery traditions, in which the corpus tradition also is an important component.
The two-year programme is delivered through studio and workshop practice, seminars, exhibitions, study groups, individual and group supervision, field study work, theoretical and practical experimentation, and other activities relevant to the programme.

The artistic assessment is carried out by a special assessment group consisting of professors, teachers, students and representatives from the professional field.
The selection process takes place in two stages. The first stage involves the assessment of the applicant's submitted assignment and statement of intent, on the basis of their ability to express themselves artistically and to adopt an investigative and reflective attitude, as well as degree of independence in expression. We also evaluate technical proficiency and craftsmanship.
In the second stage, a number of applicants are invited to an interview where the applicant’s motivation for undertaking the programme, ability to reflect on their own artistic attitudes are discussed in relation to the previously submitted applicant assignment. Based on these criteria described, an overall assessment is finally made. Read more about artistic assessment here.
