Introduktion till typografi
If graphic design is about communication, typography is one of its most essential tools. It is present wherever spoken language becomes written language: in books, newspapers, and posters, but also in digital environments such as screens, apps, and games. Typography can be seen as the visual voice of language, giving words form, tone, and presence in our everyday lives.
The purpose of this guide is to introduce the basic rules and conventions that make typography functional and readable. We will also explore different technical formats and how their specific conditions influence typographic work. Constraints are not merely obstacles; they can also serve as valuable tools in the design process.
Once the fundamentals are in place, the craft becomes both easier and more flexible. It is only when we have mastered the rules that we can begin to break them deliberately, or develop our own approaches and working methods.
