HAVEN
HAVEN is a haven for teachers, students, researchers, and alumni associated with Konstfack, the Department of Crafts.
The journal is intended to serve as a platform on which we, on an annual basis, share our work, whether it be research projects, poems, images, or essays. A body of knowledge, to put it simply. This first issue of HAVEN circles around the theme of exploration. Exploration can mean many things. It can involve searching and experimenting but also inquiry and criticism. It is a matter of exploring what exploration can be, if exploration is to remain exploratory. Working with the contributions to this issue, some commonalities have become apparent. These are reflected in how the issue is structured. As a reader, you will first encounter contributions addressing questions regarding the Human & Non-Human, followed by a range of works focusing on Textility & Temporality, which in turn are followed by works exploring issues around Landscape & Materiality. The journal concludes with two texts in which criticism takes a leading role. The boundaries between the themes we have outlined are fluid. There are recurring topics, not least subjects such as corporeality and materi ality, spatiality, making, and temporality. Seamlessly these themes flow into one another. And we believe that this is how it should be, as exploration is both a refuge (a haven) and an immeasurable ocean (ett hav)
Editors for HAVEN are Beatrice Brovia, Lauro Höring, Åsa Pärson and Michell Zethson
