How to apply to Konstfack as an incoming exchange student.
Important information about application
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Konstfack will only be able to admit a very small amount of exchange students for the autumn 2026 and the academic year of 2026/2027.
Therefore, we recommend all applicants applying for Konstfack for any of these semesters, to also apply for other universities.

Autumn semester - application will open 15 March 2026
Nomination (must be made by your home university): 15 March - 15 April
Student application deadline: 15 April
Spring semester - application is closed
Nomination (must be made by your home university): 15 September - 15 October
Student application deadline: 15 October

Nomination will open March 15, please send all nominations via this nomination form no later than the deadlines above.
How to apply as a student
Application
• Letter of motivation (½ a page, A4 size )
• CV
• Portfolio: 5-10 pages (A4 size) Include pictures, titles, descriptions, and descriptive text for each portfolio piece (not larger than 15 MB, It is good if you can use Adobe Professional, where you can easily change the format of your pictures.)
• Transcript of records, translated into English, showing your academic records from your home university
• Passport copy
In order for your application to be considered, your home university must have sent us the nomination before deadline.
Please note that you will get a confirmation by email that we have received your complete application for exchange. Make sure you get the confirmation - if you do not then we have not received your application!
Approximately 6-8 weeks after the deadline you will be able to know if you have been admitted or not. If you have been admitted by email.
Which semester can I apply to?
Our programmes can only admit exchange students to the Undergraduate level.
Fine Art can also admit to the Graduate level, spring semester year 1.
Ceramics and Glass: Autumn semester during the third year. Please note that you need to have a background in either the ceramics field or the glass field in order to apply, since you will be placed in the third year, if admitted.
Graphic Design and Illustration: Spring semester during second year and Autumn semester during the third year.
Industrial Design: Spring semester during the second year and Autumn semester during the third year.
Interior Architecture and Furniture Design: Spring semester during second year and Autumn semester during third year.
Jewellery and Corpus: Autumn and Spring semester during the second year.
Textiles: Spring semester during second year.
Fine Art: Autumn and Spring semester during second year, second semester at the Graduate level. Please note that you have to have a background in Fine Art to be accepted as an exchange student to the Fine Art program. If you have another background but your practice is in the field of Fine Art, please make sure to show that in your portfolio and to explain that in your motivation letter. You also have to be prepared to work independently.
Department of Visual Arts and Sloyd Education, Secondary level: Spring semester during third year. This can be flexible for incoming students.
Upper Secondary level: Autumn semester during second year. This can be flexible for incoming students.
On the two Teacher education programs above it is possible to study courses such as Visual Communication, Spatial Design, Narration and learning, Media, Photography.

Please note that being admitted as an exchange student to Konstfack means that you will follow the courses offered at that program for the specific semester. You will not be able to choose freely among all courses, nor will you be able to access all the different workshops. Some programs will not offer courses, instead you are expected to work individually on your own project.
