News about Legimus

Legimus is a digital library for talking books, maintained by The Swedish Agency for Accessible Media (MTM). Legimus is available to students with reading impairments caused by a disability. MTM have recently changed how students are given access to Legimus, and how they decide what literature they produce as talking books.

A few important changes

  • University libraries can no longer create Legimus accounts. The library will instead help the student apply for an account. The application will then be processed by MTM.
  • The library will no longer be able to request that MTM produce course books as talking books if it is possible to buy an accessible e-book.
  • Previously produced talking books can also be removed from Legimus if they can be purchased as accessible e-books.
  • Students using talking books will probably need to read accessible course books on different platforms instead of accessing everything through Legimus.

Important to keep in mind as a student

  • Previously registered Legimus accounts will remain in place. If you have a Legimus account you will not need to apply again.
  • If you have mandatory course literature that cannot be found in Legimus, please contact the library.

Please contact the library for questions.
