An international group of artists has been formed in Konstfack's one-year course "Research Lab CRAFT!". Taking material-based investigations as their point of departure, they have collectively explored—both in theory and practice—the role of art and craft in contemporary society. Here, the contact between the human hand and material has given rise to discussions around norms and hierarchies within the art field and society at large.

In art and craft, body and object are united through the movement of the hand, a process in which worlds meet and new ideas emerge. Within this field of tension—of becoming and dialogue—the artists invite the public to their first joint exhibition, STRATA. A four-day, process-based exploration of layers—heritage, memory, geology, health/illness, body and mind. The exhibition features, among other works, ceramic and mechanical sculptures, plant-dyed and embroidered textiles, a multisensory installation on how we actively reshape, integrate and utilise historical traces, traditions and environments, as well as various tactile objects and works in which repetition and copying—both digital and manual—gradually break down structures that recur, shift and dissolve.
