Happy Gut Feeling

HAPPY GUT FEELING explores the link between gut microbes, diet, and mental health through an artistic installation. The exhibition highlights a relationship to food based on mutual care, as one of interdependence with the microorganisms within us. It rethinks and reenacts traditions of preservation and ways to be self-sufficient, bridging eco-feminism and self-care.

Maria Pita Guerreiro (1991, PT) is an experimental designer and artist based in Stockholm. After studying product design, graphic design, and painting in Lisbon, she took an MFA in Design at Konstfack. Her work is at the intersection of design, art, craft, science, and health, and draws inspiration from natural systems, rituals, the human body, and eco-feminism. In recent years, Maria's practice has focused on material research, alternative therapies, and self-sustaining practices. A longstanding interest in the tension between disgust and attraction has led to working with living materials such as fungi and bacteria. She works in collaboration with the scientific community to deepen the understanding of these materials and their potential.
