Department of Design, Interior Architecture and Visual Communication / Industrial Design
Description
Loove Broms (PhD in Interaction Design) works as a Senior Lecturer in Design with a focus on Interactive Technologies at the Department of Design, Interior Architecture and Visual Communication (DIV), Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design, and as a Researcher at the Division of Strategic Sustainability Studies (SHS), SEED, KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Since 2025, he has also been Research Director at the Swedish Institute of Architecture (Svenska arkitekturinstiutet).
Loove’s research explores how design can contribute to socially and ecologically sustainable transformations. In his work, he uses design prototypes as critical tools to examine, propose, and open up possibilities for social innovation in key societal areas such as digitalisation, smart technologies, sustainable cities, and crisis preparedness.
His work has been recognised both nationally and internationally, with exhibitions at institutions such as Cooper Hewitt in New York, the Design Museum in London, and the Museum of Ethnography in Stockholm.
As a teacher, researcher, and research leader, Loove contributes to the development of research-based design education and the research environment at Konstfack. He has supervised doctoral students in design and sustainable transition in collaboration with HDK-Valand and KTH, and has served as course director and examiner at both the master’s and doctoral levels.
He is also one of the creators of the well-known interactive light installation Colour by Numbers.
