On account of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the visual communication program at Konstfack arranges an open screening of The Architecture of Doom by Peter Cohen. Welcome to Open School, 27 January at 4.30 pm in Mandelgren lecture hall at Konstfack.

The Architecture of Doom is a documentary from 1989 highlighting the role of art and culture in relation to the National Socialist ideology, an ideology obsessed with aesthetics in terms of purity, beauty and whiteness.

The International Holocaust Remembrance Day is an annual memorial day designated by the United Nations General Assembly resolution in 2005. It commemorates the genocide performed by the Nazi regime and its collaborators that resulted in the death of an estimated 6 million Jews, 1 million Roma, 250.000 mentally and physically disabled people and 9.000 homosexuals. It is a time when we seek to learn and remember that genocide does not only take place on its own, it is a steady process fueled when discrimination, racism and hatred are not recognized and prevented.

The screening is held in English. Organised by the Visual Communication/Graphic design & illustration programme. Open for everyone. Welcome!
