"Naked Product" selected for the Uppsala Short Film Festival
20 September 2026
Naked Product, a short film by Konstfack student Shihao Hai, has been selected for the National Competition at the 45th Uppsala Short Film Festival, taking place 19–25 October 2026 in Uppsala, Sweden.

The film will be presented alongside selected Swedish short films as part of the festival's National Competition. The Uppsala Short Film Festival is one of Sweden's major short film festivals, bringing together filmmakers and audiences from Sweden and internationally.
Earlier in 2026, Naked Product was also selected for two international short film festivals. It has been presented at Duemila30 Festival in Milan, Italy (July/August 2026), and will be presented at TrikFilm Festival in Ostrava, Czech Republic (September 2026).
Naked Product is a visual exploration of "naked products" — everyday objects stripped of packaging, branding and marketing. By removing these layers, the film questions how packaging shapes our perception of objects and invites us to look at familiar things differently.
Rather than treating packaging simply as a functional layer around a product, the film considers it as a system that produces meaning, value and expectations. What remains when these layers are removed?
Shihao Hai is a second-year MA student in Design Ecologies at Konstfack. He holds a BA in Fashion Product Design from Donghua University, Shanghai, and is a member of the Design+Posthumanism Network, an international network exploring critical posthumanism through design practice, education and research.
His practice moves across product design, graphic design, film and writing, often drawing inspiration from everyday life and ecological thought. Through these different forms, he explores the often-invisible structures that shape relationships between people, objects, environments and systems, with an interest in making forms of structural violence and ecological entanglement perceptible.
Naked Product continues this investigation by using film to look at one of the most ordinary elements of contemporary consumption — the packaged product — and to ask how the layers surrounding an object influence what we see, value and understand.
