Konstfack alumna Nkuli Mlangeni-Berg launches Christmas collection for Svenskt Tenn

3 November 2026

"Love Letter" brings South African craft traditions into dialogue with Svenskt Tenn’s colourful design heritage. Nkuli Mlangeni-Berg has a Master’s degree from the CRAFT! Textiles programme in spring 2025. Today, she is a designer, textile artist and founder of The Ninevites, a multidisciplinary design studio and creative agency.

Her work celebrates black aesthetics and seeks to preserve cultural heritage, drawing inspiration from traditional South African craft traditions, particularly those of the Zulu and Ndebele peoples.

For Christmas 2026, she has created a collection of Christmas decorations, beaded objects and table textiles for Svenskt Tenn.

The collection brings together influences from her own heritage with Svenskt Tenn’s colourful design tradition. At its heart is the Love Letter brooch, inspired by the South African Zulu tradition of love letters, in which beaded accessories are used to convey symbolic messages through colours and patterns rather than written words.
