Konstfack alumni winner of IF Design Student Award 2025
25 June 2025
The project "Rapid Autografting – Reimagining Footwear Through Bioengineering" by Wolfgang Laimer, 2024 graduate from the master's programme Design Ecologies, was selected from over 7000 entries across 74 countries.

Exploration of the integration of biotechnology into sports footwear and speculation on the transformative potential of biotechnological advancements. Advanced tissue engineering processes the wearer's own biomaterials, redefining long-distance running by creating a bioengineered bond between footwear and feet. Individuals temporarily enhance their physiology to meet specific needs and desires.
Jury statement:
"By integrating biotechnology into sports footwear, Rapid Autografting redefines performance and human potential. This is a bold exploration of bioengineering, where footwear and physiology merge to shape the future of movement. Congratulations on this compelling presentation!"
