Joel Wengström exhibits his degree project at the world's largest motorcycle fair

This spring he graduated from the Industrial Design program – now he is exhibiting his motorcycle Polestar Exö at EICMA in Milan.

Joel Wengström's electric motorcycle stems from a form analysis by the car manufacturer Polestar and finding an innovative way to design and manufacture such a two-wheeled vehicle. Inspired by the scorpion's exoskeleton, which provides a strong and lightweight outer structure, and by using biocomposite materials, function and aesthetics have been integrated into the load-bearing outer shell. In this way, material use can be reduced, which contributes to less environmental impact compared to traditional manufacturing methods.

By combining biomimicry, sustainability and modern design, Wengström has created a motorcycle that is not only functional and aesthetically pleasing, but also challenges the norm in motorcycle manufacturing.

Polestar Exö is exhibited by Öhlins, which develops and manufactures advanced suspension systems, especially high-performance shock absorbers.

EICMA, which stands for Esposizione Internazionale del Ciclo, Motociclo, Accessori (International Exhibition of Bicycles, Motorcycles and Accessories), has around 600,000 visitors and takes place in Milan on 4-9 November. Joel Wengström will be on site at stand M60 in hall 5P to talk about the project.
