Congratulations Sara Melin, winner of this year’s holiday card competition!

12 December 2025

With inspiration from both private and public archives, Sara Melin from the master’s programme in Fine Art year 2, won Konstfack’s holiday card competition 2025.

The competition is announced every year to the university students and the winner is selected by the Vice-Chancellor.

Sara Melin describes that she views the holiday card as a collaboration between herself and eight other artists who lived prior to the 1900s:

– We can see a wheel from Le diverse et artificiose machine, by Agostino Ramelli 1588; a bird head by Giambattista della Porta and an organic net by Sara Melin, 2025. Several illustrations are included, for example Lapland Magic Drum Figure by Jan Luyken 1682, an edited Jack the Schoolmaster by James Tilly Mathews 1810 and a snowflake by an anonymous artist from 1863. Different times, different places, different ideas together on one and the same paper.
