Graphic Win!
5 September 2024
For the next edition of the Deleuze & Guattari Studies Camp and Conference 2025 (DGS25), a competition to create the graphic identity was announced this spring. And the winner is… Jakob Reinhard, student at the master’s programme Visual Communication.
The 17th edition of the large international camp and conference takes place at Konstfack 12–15 and 17–19 June 2025. All students were invited to create sketch proposals for a graphic profile focusing on an artistic concept combined with the visual communication of the conference's theme Pedagogies of philosophy: nonsense and…and…and joy. In April, a jury consisting of representatives from the Department of Visual Arts and Sloyd Education appointed Jakob Reinhard as the winner and recipient of 5,000 SEK in prize money granted by Vice-Chancellor Anna Valtonen.
Congratulations Jakob, how does it feel?
–I am honored, and it is a great feeling to realise that your ideas and skills are at a level that convinces people outside of your own head. Knowing that these graphics are effective and convey joy is rewarding.
What was your idea based on, and where did you get your inspiration?
– The conference topic "Pedagogies of Philosophy: Nonsense and Joy" is a very promising starting point for a graphic designer, offering numerous possibilities for fun and experimentation. The vision of the result is to celebrate the profound significance of nonsense and joy in academic pursuits and innovation in research. At the core of the creative concept is the celebration of "nonsense" and "joy" as essential ingredients in the scholarly journey. To convey this message visually, I have embraced vivid and vibrant colour gradients, symbolizing the exuberance and delight inherent in the pursuit of knowledge. These colourful gradations serve as a visual representation of the joyous exploration that characterizes academic inquiry.
