Gunilla Muhr new Head of Department at Konstfack

Gunilla Muhr is the new Head of the Department of Fine Art where she succeeds Olof Glemme who is retiring. Gunilla comes from CFF, the Centre for Photography, where she has worked as director for over ten years.

Gunilla MuhrGunilla has extensive experience in curatorial work, leadership and research within art, film and photography.

Among other things, she has previously worked with film director Roy Andersson, been a member of the group that started and ran the legendary Galleri Ynglingagatan 1 and has both taught and studied, including as a doctoral student, at JMK, Stockholm University.

Her ongoing thesis project involves a series of Walt Disney films from the 1930s.

- I can't think of a more exciting and important assignment than to be involved in developing Konstfack by heading the Department of Fine Art. At a time when the complexity of our society is intensifying, the demand on the ability of citizens to interpret and understand their time is also increasing. Here, art plays a very important role as one of the fields in which society can discuss itself," says Gunilla Muhr.

Gunilla Muhr will assume her full-time position on 1 May 2017.

There are currently four departments at Konstfack: the Department of Visual Arts and Sloyd Education, the Department of Design, Interior Architecture and Visual Communication, the Department of Crafts and the Department of Fine Art.
