Inspired by the exhibition Hyper Human at the National Museum for Science and Technology, ten bachelor's students from the Jewellery and Corpus: Ädellab programme reflect on five of the exhibition’s core themes: enhancement, gene editing, surveillance, artificial intelligence, and aging and death.
Through the lens of contemporary jewellery, these works explore where the physical body begins and ends in a digitally driven society, and how the future might renegotiate the boundaries and power dynamics between human and machine.
Employing experimental craft methods and critical inquiry, the students question how identity and authentic human experience can endure in an era shaped by data and algorithms. By translating inner emotional landscapes and nostalgic memories into adornments, the exhibition Body Double serves as an invitation to view jewellery not merely as a physical extension of the body, but as a precision-crafted tool for reflecting on the future of humanity.
