Unpacking material memories through design methods

The third-year students from the Interior Architecture and Furniture Design programme, have explored and researched the former industrial site Henriksberg in Stockholm, hosted by Tamano Carpentry. Many existing buildings will be demolished in preparation for new housing development.

The students first aimed to study various buildings' historical and current state regarding material culture, form language, construction technology, societal expectations, organization model, and function. They then examined how design processes can consider life-affirming perspectives and experimental approaches to preservation. The results are presented at the fair in objects, interiors and new methods.
