Heritage – Culture – Community: Textile heritage
Maja Gunn will shortly introduce her new project ‘Textile heritage’ funded by VR’s six year research grant within the framework of the call "Grants to the research environment within artistic research".
Microhistories: Necromancing
Magnus Bärtås and Behzad Khosravi Noori speak about necromancing as artistic-historiographic speculative practice. They will show a part of a common film work: “Layal Al Attar and Hotel Al Rasheed” (at present screened at Uppsala Short Film Festival) and Behzad will speak about his work with students at Habib University, using necromancing as a methodology.
Design Explorations: Material Cultures for Interspecies Cohabitation
Martín Ávila will speak about his ongoing research project that uses designed artefacts that contribute to reshaping human relations with other species, in this case newts and woodpeckers.
BIOS
Martín Ávila is a designer, researcher, and professor of design at Konstfack. Together with Loove Broms and Kristina Fridh he is leading the Design Explorations research platform.
Loove Broms is a senior lecturer and research leader in design at Konstfack. He also holds a position as researcher at KTH, the Division for Strategic Sustainability Studies. Together with Martin Avila and Kristina Fridh he is leading the Design Explorations research platform.
Magnus Bärtås is an artist, writer, professor of fine arts and Head of Research at Konstfack. Together with Cecilia Järdemar he is leading the Microhistories Research Platform at Konstfack.
Behzad Khosravi Noori is an artist and educator with a post doc project involving Konstfack, Habib University, Karachi, and Goldsmiths University, London.
Maja Gunn is an artist, designer, curator, writer, professor of textiles, and research leader of crafts at Konstfack. Maja Gunn is leading the Heritage – Culture – Community research platform.
Research Seminars are a seminar format which, throughout the 2024-2025 academic year, will centre upon the discussion and dissemination of artistic research at Konstfack, and the sharing of new insights. Each seminar will be organised by a different department at Konstfack, and will take place each month. This seminar is open to all staff, students and researchers at Konstfack, as well as members of the public.
