You Will Not Be Alone

Konstfack students across departments – from the Visual Communication, Textiles, Jewelry, Glass, Ceramics, Teacher Education and Industrial Design programmes – have organized an inaugural group exhibition highlighting parents who study at Konstfack.

The exhibition will include written statements by the students related to their practices and how they integrate their roles as student, parent and artist.

– This exhibit is first and foremost about visibility, says Lindsay Baker who is studying for her masters at the Visual Communication programme. Prior to starting at Konstfack, I was worried I’d be the only parent here. I felt like it would be something I might need to hide. Now I also see the benefits of being a parent who is also in school.

The title of the exhibition "You will not be alone" means that you will both not be alone as a parent at Konstfack, but also that you will not ever really be alone because your parental responsibilities are something that you feel at all times, even if you’re not with your children.

In the spirit of camaraderie and support for fellow parents, the vernissage on 23 October will be child-friendly with an activity space for kids. The entrance is accessible to wheelchairs and strollers. There are two bathrooms with changing stations in the building and seating for breastfeeding will be made available as well.
