Elin Svanelind – Protect dirt from shame | the love that vanished

A warm welcome to Elin Svanelinds bachelors exhibition "Protect dirt from shame | the love that vanished".

The exhibition is based on experiences, in which lesbian relationships are mainly present. There I am interested in various efforts that give expression to the wordless dimensions that operate outside the apparent. That in an attempt to embrace the non-normative, the complexity pushed aside to collapse into constructs. I think of the lesbian relationships that, through a rejection of ourselves, have been lost in history and i think of my own relationships I entered into when two women's bodies are formed in the painting in front of me.

"Protect dirt from shame | the love that vanished" moves in expression around relationships, anxiety, the body and its relationship to the outside world. Through the painterly and sculptural together with the psychosocial and poetic, I examine surface and depth as possible contact surfaces. An exploration of emotional landscapes, tolerance and the creation of possible bodies.
