Common treasures

Master’s students in Spatial Design exhibit “Common treasures”, a project in collaboration with Hägerstensåsens Medborgarhus. Through exploring the function, history and activities of the building, the students now invite you to a studio-like setup with their proposals for updated public spaces and new activities for the citizens.

The community centre (Medborgarhus) opened in 1957 as an initiative from the local citizens, with thoughts of a common living room. The students have asked themselves where the community centre begins and ends. How the structure of the house contributes to what is perceived to be public versus private. What activities and functions can be added to the house today for a continued future sense of community. Where festis, skating and radio waves are some of many treats of the everyday life on Åsen.
