Mats Jonsson is a highly acclaimed Swedish graphic novelist. In his latest self biographical book "När vi var samer" (When We Were Sami) he traces his own family’s forgotten Sami background in tandem with Swedish history, trying to find out why there is so little collective memory left of the forest Sami and their culture in Sweden.
He uncovers deliberate political strategies spanning centuries and an on-going fight over valuable land-rights and forest.
