What is our continuing fascination with selfies? Why do they still provoke us, and why then are they still being used my millions every day? This lecture will deal not only with our faces and ourselves, but the invisible yet fundamental context of the digital in which they need to be fully understood.

Dr. Lisa Ehlin, PhD in Fashion Studies, connected to the Research School for Studies in Cultural History, Stockholm University. She defended her thesis "Becoming Image: Perspectives on Digital Culture, Fashion and Technofeminism" in 2015.

She works as a writer, researcher, editor, curator, lecturer and moderator.

Övrigt

Open School is a series of lectures organized by the Visual Communication faculty. In the lectures we investigate visual communication in relation to broader social, cultural and economic contexts. With norm criticality as a take-off point, we go deeper in how identity, norms and borders are formed, and pick up questions and themes that is important to the development of the field.

The Open School lectures are part of the master program in Visual Communication and the evening course Ways of Seeing 1.

Open School is free and open to the public.
