Using an intersectional perspective, Brita Lindvall Leitmann will show how history has affected norms, individuals, taste and what is often considered neutral. Through investigative methods, using exampels from zir own practice, Brita will guide us from Gustav Vasa to Julia Roberts to show how views on typography has changed over time.

Brita Lindvall Leitmann is a Stockholm based graphic designer and typographical researcher and runs the design studio Bastion. Zir work is based on investigative methodologies, focusing on processes, and includes the research project Bastion Lab.

Open School is a series of lectures organized by the Visual Communication faculty. In the lectures we investigate visual communication in relation to broader social, cultural and economic contexts. With norm criticality as a take-off point, we go deeper in how identity, norms and borders are formed, and pick up questions and themes that is important to the development of the field.

The Open School lectures are part of the master program in Visual Communication and the evening course Ways of Seeing 1.

Open School is free and open to the public.
