Welcome to Konstfack Research Week 2021!

Video documentation from lectures and presentations are available throughout the week’s programme.

Konstfack Research Week 2021 prioritizes the process of research and considers the diverse methodologies that exist within artist practices. While the week’s programme departs from an online platform, audiences are welcome to follow a range of topics blooming from the intimacy of studio practices to the complex realm of the social. Konstfack Research Week 2021 welcomes national and international guest speakers and the programme is organised into three main areas: Views on Research, Nodes and Closing Events.

Views on Research

Views on Research begins on Monday with the introduction and includes keynote presentations by Johanna Drucker, Naeem Mohaiemen and Clare Twomey. The theme continues through Tuesday, when newly appointed PhD candidates from Konstfack’s collaboration with the HDK Valand and FOBOS doctoral programmes share their research projects. In addition, there will be presentations about ongoing research conducted by Konstfack staff.

Nodes

During Wednesday and Thursday, six unique nodes have been developed by departments at Konstfack which include the areas of craft, fine art, industrial design, interior architecture, teacher education and visual communication. The nodes offer both presentations and active experiences ranging in topics from material practices in glass, data visualization and information design, discrimination and social inequality, geology in relation to design and craft, as well as ways in which we can embrace unpredictability and risk in art and education or how architecture and textiles can play an integral role in the space of one’s home.
Node speakers include: Bitte Andersson, Gert Biesta, BOOM!, Brown Island (Johnny Chang and Louise Khadjeh-Nassiri) Loulou Cherinet, Datastory (Gunilla Hagström and Daniel Lapidus), Garðar Eyjólfsson, Eric van Hove, In Search of Porcelain (Brynhildur Pálsdóttir, Ólöf Erla Bjarnadóttir, Snæbjörn Guðmundsson), Jyoti Kapur, Konstfack Fine Art students, Sylvie Krüger, Kristin Larsson, Petra Lilja, Karl Lydén, Jöns Mellgren, Anna Mlasowsky, Michele Masucci, Sergio Montero Bravo, Ulrika Mårtensson, The Name Change Initiative (Jessy Koeiman and Vivian Ziherl), Temi Odumosu, Anna Maria Orrú, Jocelyne Prince, Tina Sherwell, Spekulativa Juntan, Hồng-Ân Trương, Maja Willén, Youyou Zhou.
