In spring 2020 the National Graduate School in Visual Art and Sloyd Education is launched. The purpose of the school is to expand knowledge within the subject area visual, virtual and material culture as well as practice-based knowledge. The graduate school is open to teachers wanting to deepen their knowledge within the framework of graduate studies and leads to a Degree of Licentiate of Arts.

The Swedish Research Council funds the school 2019-2023.

The graduate school is a collaboration between

• University of Gothenburg
• Konstfack, University of Arts, Crafts and Design
• Stockholm University

FOBOS at Konstfack

At Konstfack the graduate school will be placed at The Department of Visual Arts and Sloyd Education, IBIS. IBIS conducts teacher education and research within the field of visual culture and learning, which also includes material, virtual and digital cultures. Educational sciences is the main disciplinary research domain at IBIS, but the department is active within a transdisciplinary environment and also connects to the subjects of art, technology and design, including learning design.

Since Konstfack doesn't have degree awarding powers for third cycle programmes, doctoral students within the FOBOS programme will follow the study plan at HDK, University of Gothenburg. More information available here.
