Applying for external research grants

Externally funded research projects always have to be approved by the research directors, the Education and Research Administration Divison and the Head of department. The first step for the researcher is to get in touch with the research directors, to commence a dialouge.

Always discuss your research proposal with the research directors, before applying for a research grant! You need to get in touch with the research directors no later than 3 months before application deadline.

Please contact the research coordinator at UFA to initiate the dialogue with the research directors: Protected address

Applications for research funding are to be reviewed by Konstfack's research directors, the Education and Research Administration Department and the Head of the department at which the project is intended to be run. This review process is mandatory. The research directors should be contacted no later than 3 months before the application deadline for the call you are interested in.

For detailed information about the review process, please read Routines for applications for external research funding 2015.pdf (in Swedish).

The review process – short version

STEP 1
No later than three months (or other announced date) prior to the application deadline, the researcher is to contact the research directors and present them with

  • an abstract and a preliminary budget
  • information about which department and in which field of research you want to conduct your project
  • a motivation on how the project relates and contributes to the research environment at Konstfack
  • a CV (unless you are already employed at Konstfack).

STEP 2
The research directors and the Education and Research Administration Divison (UFA) assess the project and, given a positive outcome, give a preliminary approval. The research directors inform the Head of Department and UFA about the proposed project. A meeting with UFA is set up to discuss the budget.

STEP 3
No later than four weeks prior to the final application date the researcher

  • submits the final application draft, including the final budget, to the research directors and the Education and Research Administration Divison.

STEP 4
No later than two weeks after submitting the final application draft (STEP 3) the researcher is informed whether the project may be conducted at Konstfack or not.
