Bring yourself and a friend to the Artist Talk with Sergei Tcherepnin (b. 1981).

Sergei Tcherepnin is an artist whose practice is vast and multifarious, spanning music, visual art and performance.

His installations and performances bring together sound and image through the possibility of touch, often inviting the viewer to interact with sounding sculptures in unexpected ways. In his work, “sound” and “image” can inhabit a plurality of forms, such as: composed acoustic music, welded brass sculptures, textile collages, electronic dance music, flickering light boxes, environmental sound design, and queer photography.

His music draws on many influences, including noise, classical, industrial, electronic dance and folk music traditions.

He has exhibited his work at galleries and museums such as Murray Guy Gallery (NY), Foksal Gallery (Warsaw), The Whitney Biennial, PS1 Greater New York, and MoMA (NY). He has been commissioned for performances at The Kitchen (NY), LAMPO (Chicago), the Guggenheim (NY), McAM (Shanghai). His soundtrack for Fern Silva’s film Rock Bottom Riser (2021) won the Sacem Prize for Best Original Music at the Cinéma du Réel at the Pompidou in Paris.
