For several years, visual artists Geska and Robert Brecevic travelled to the village of Zegache in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, to collaborate with the Talleres Comunitarios de Zegache. Part of this collaboration has been the focus for a research project, involving visual ethnographer Karin Becker. Other parts have become art works, projects – and this award-winning film.

The artists write: "This phase of our work has also seen an increased attention to the patterns of human movement associated with economic migration and religious pilgrimage."

Journeying into the mythical space of the outlands of southern Mexico, Geska and Robert Brecevic and their five-year old daughter Katja unearth complex stories in which time, memory and nostalgia are continually reenacted.

The film is 90 minutes long, followed by talk and discussion with the artists and professor emerita Karin Becker.
