In 2016 Brown Island became the first separatist group for people of colour to organise at Konstfack University in Stockholm and constitute a historical matter of significance. This lecture will explore the need for political organisation and separatist spaces within art institutions and how to navigate these institutions as a person of colour today.

Rudy Loewe is a visual artist from London, currently studying MFA in Visual Communication at Konstfack and has co-organised a number of separatist spaces in London as well as Brown Island. Rudy is also a member of Collective Creativity — a group of QTIPOC artists researching the experiences of artists of colour in the UK.
