Application and admission

There are two deadlines to apply for exchange. For the Fall semester it is the May 1, and for the Spring semester it is the October 15.

All programmes, except Fine Arts, can only admit exchange students to the Undergraduate level. Fine Arts can also admit to the Graduate level, second semester. As follows:

Ceramics & Glass: Fall semester during the third year. You need to have a background in the field in order to apply, since you will be placed in the third year, if admitted.
Graphic Design & Illustration: Fall semester during the third year
Industrial Design: Spring semester during the second year and Fall semester during the third year
Interior Architecture & Furniture Design: Fall semester during third year
Ädellab (Metal design): Spring semester during the second year
Textiles: Fall semester during second year
Fine Arts: Fall and Spring semesters during second year
Department of Visual Arts and Sloyd Education; Secondary level: Spring semester during third year or Fall semester during fourth year.
Upper Secondary level
: Fall semester during third year or Fall semester during fourth year

The semester dates are generally:
Fall: End of August until middle of January
Spring: Middle of January until beginning of June.

The exact dates for Fall 2017 are August 28 - January 14.
And for Spring 2018 January 15 - June 03
Non scheduled time is Christmas week 52 and May 11.


In order to apply you need to fill out the application form and enclose:

• Letter of motivation
• Portfolio: 5-10 pictures (A4 size), link to website (with a clearly specified portfolio part!) or a USB stick.

Please note! 
for students applying for Industrial Design (Product Design) the portfolio should  be in pdf-format and not larger than 15MB. It is good if you can use Adobe Professional, where you can easily change the format of your pictures.

• Transcript of records, translated into English, showing your academic records from your home university
• A mail from your international coordinator, confirming your application´
• Some students need to enclose a certificate of their English level too. Please check with Matilda (below) to find out what applies to you.

Please note that you will get a confirmation by mail that we have received your complete application for exchange. Make sure you get the confirmation- if you do not then we have not received it!
Approximately 6-8 weeks after the deadline you will be able to know if you have been admitted or not. If you have been admitted you will receive information from us on how to proceed and what to think of.

Please note that we can not return portfolios.
