Welcome to Professor Anna Mlasowsky's inaugural lecture

Anna Mlasowsy's practice, which spans almost two decades, bridges scientific and artistic craft practices, fine art and performance. It's rooted in years of engagement with glass as a material and object, and how the context of our lives genders the experiences of our understanding of the world. Her artistic practice has become an embodiment of the marginal, deviant and queer. She will speak about how she uses the material's properties as a mediator to explore dis-belonging, otherness, queerness, and disobedience, often generating objects which are activated and set into context through video, sound, installation, and performance.

Anna Mlasowsky is a recipient of a TAG Grant (2015), an IASPIS Grant (2013) from the Swedish Arts Council, an Artist Trust Fellowship (2017) and 4Culture Grant (2019), she was most recently a Haas Fellow at the Science History Institute (2021-22) and an artist in residence at Amazon (2022). Her work is in the collections of institutions such as The Corning Museum of Glass (NY), The Toyama City Art Museum (Japan), the Castello Sforzesco (Milan, Italy) and the Museum of Art and Design (NY) and has been shown at The European Museum for Contemporary Glass, The Northwest Museum of Art, The Bellevue Arts Museum and the Stockholm Architecture Museum.
